Raising Puppies

If puppies could have their way, they’d choose to run free all the time, so you should expect some initial resistance to the dog crate. Puppies have to learn to accept periods of confinement. They won’t like it right away but acceptance will come.
In the end, crate training is a very personal choice. But, most experts agree that create traning your puppy is an essential prerequisite to dog behavior training.
Toy puppies will not be able to chew their way through a whole lot of surfaces, but they can chew at irreplaceable furniture and moldings enough to do quite a bit of damage. Be sure to puppy-proof your home before the curious, mischievous and teething toy puppy arrives.
Get him a selection of toys and rotate them. Puppies can get bored easily and switching the toys around makes them seem always new. Teething puppies love chew toys and all dogs love a Kong stuffed with peanut butter. They can spend hours trying to clean it all out.
Remove all shoes, backpacks, leather items, remote controls, cordless phones, childrens toys, stuffed animals, throw pillows or anything else that could potentially be fun to play with.
From age 6 months to 18 months, the teenager emerges! He’s goofy, inquisitive, striving to please, or get away with murder if he’s learned how to get around you and figured out that he can!
Every time your puppies bite, make your puppies think that they are hurting you by crying out loud (Ouch!). What you want to do here is to take puppies attention away with your voice, and stop playing with them for a while. Repeat this method several times and they will soon learn that nobody want to play with them when they start to bite.
The journey is exciting and can be very satisfying for both you and your dog, keeping in mind the puppy developmental stages, enjoy your puppy while he is a puppy, because as with children, the time passes way too fast and then they are grown up!
Have you ever felt compelled to do something, and not known why? Yet you have just done it, followed the urge, and found yourself in an amazing situation to do good, and do something almost heroic, and yet known, why you ever had that urge in the first place?
The womans husband has been out of town on business and had not been due back until the next day. She had tripped and fallen, striking her head as she fell. The doctor told her that if we had not come over at that moment she and the baby might have died.

When it comes to pet flea treatments, Frontline flea medicine is the top choice for vets in North America.
Frontline fleas kills up to one hundred percent of the fleas on your pet within 24 hours and up to 100% of ticks within 48 hours.
It works effectively for one month, twice as long as its next competitor which is why it occupies the top spot.
Since its waterproof, many owners with active dogs choose Frontline.
Dog flea medications use chemical formulations to kill the parasites which can be harsh.
Frontline dogs is so gentle it can be used on kittens and puppies of 8 weeks old as well as on nursing mothers.
It works the best for your cat or dog, and it works with one application onto the coat, just a dot of the liquid on the back of the neck.
Through a method called translocation, the flea medication is dispersed over the entire coat.
It is then advisable to try to keep your cat or dog dry for at least 24 hours to allow this process to happen.
Once the medication is translocated on your dog or cat, it remains on the coat for 4 weeks, during which time it should be unnecessary to re-apply.
Frontline tick comes in three types:
A spray used for quick elimination of severe flea and tick infestations.
Then there’s Top Spot which has all the features of the spray for routine control.
Best of all is Frontline pet with an extra ingredient which actually breaks the flea’s breeding cycle.
Frontline pet is the most recent product in the Frontline spray family.
Because dog or cat fleas breed after being present on the host for 24-36 hours, and it kills fleas within 18 hours, further infestation is prevented.
You may see more fleas on your cat or dog during the 18 hours as the product causes hyper-agitation in the parasites and brings them to the surface of the fur before their demise.
Frontline topspot is the most popular medication for dogs & cats, and in trials it was discovered that it killed a higher percentage of fleas over the 28 day period.
Advantage flea control for cats & dogs is made by Bayer is a very similar product to Frontline spot, but merely slightly less effective.
Many dog or cat owners are very happy though with Advantage, so if you are using this brand, you don’t have anything to be concerned about.
There really isn’t much between them in the debate over which is better for cats & dogs.
Vets trust it, but of course there are many other kinds of flea spray for dogs and other pet flea medications on the market, including organic flea treatments.
Frontline cat has been proven to be the most effective way to exterminate fleas on pets.
Side effects are negligible (although certain individuals may be allergic) and the medication does not have an expiration date.
Frontline flea control is the best on the market in terms of ridding your dog or cat of fleas.
Denosyl SAMe: The Marvel Liver Supplement For Dogs.
December 24, 2008 by Ron Whithers · Leave a Comment
Denosyl SAMe tabs is a natural supplement to support your dogs liver function.
Cells, organs, blood, elements - all these work together in your dog’s body to create that mysterious thing - life!
Think of all the smaller elements, such as blood cells, natural chemicals, and antibodies to name but a few, as the cogs which turn, and protect on a miniscule level.
All parts of this machine must be in tiptop condition for the animal to be in peak health.
An airplane can fly, but sometimes it takes just one bolt to give way for a bigger problem to occur.
Try that analogy with humans and animals, through our own choices or sometimes circumstances we can let our health slide, but we do run the risk of contracting something serious by doing so.
It’s best to avoid ever getting to that stage as your immune system will be weakened if disease is already present. In a weakened state, the body is less able to attack and destroy unfriendly bodies.
We can sustain some damage at cellular level without too much hardship, but if a major organ is affected, you have serious problems.
If you think a transplant will sort the issue, remember they are expensive, donors can be hard to find and there are associated risks. Why not prevent rather than cure?
Denosyl SAMe for pets are available as a nutritional supplement. What it does is to stimulate glutathione levels in the liver.
Glutathione is a good thing, and here’s why. It’s a naturally occurring antioxidant which will help fight off attack, disease and other unfriendlies and will repair liver cells, providing healing at basic level.
The best way to avoid disease taking hold is to ensure the cells in the body are healthy; many cells are destroyed each day by the body’s defense systems if they mutate.
A healthy liver will fight back much harder than one which is already weakened.
It can be used as a preventative or in conjunction with other treatments to prevent or treat the following diseases and related illnesses:Hipidosis, Chronic Hepatitis, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Drug-induced Hepatitis caused by Prednisone or Rimadyl, and Pancreatitis.
Denosyl SAMe tabs for pets doesn’t cost the earth you will be glad to know, and will set your dog in good stead for health.
For a few cents per day, you may end up saving thousands on costly and upsetting medical treatment for your dog.
If humans choose to abuse their body, it’s their choice, but our canine friends will generally eat what we put in front of them and their lives and therefore health are controlled by us their owners.
Take the easy first step today with Denosyl SAMe for pets.
Revolution Flea: Heartworm Marvel Pet Med For Canines.
December 22, 2008 by Donna Barkley · Leave a Comment
Heartworm is a particularly nasty parasite which is spread from host to host by mosquitoes, and the most popular flea and heartworm prevention solution is Revolution dog.
Heartworms in canines are a kind of filaris (a long thin worm), and despite being best known for being found in dogs, heartworms can affect a wide variety of other animals, from cats and ferrets to sea lions and even people.
This worm was named as such due to its habit in the final stage of its reproductive cycle to live in the heart of its host.
Without treatment, the afflicted animal will have increasing difficulty exerting itself, perhaps losing its breath or even passing out when under duress.
The parasites can also damage the lungs, kidneys, and liver, causing the death of the animal when these organs or the heart itself fails.
Heartworm is treatable, but it can take 18 months or longer.
Moreover, it is not pleasant on the animal, as in many cases killing the parasites involves the use of medicines containing arsenic compounds or other strong heart worm drugs. Treatment might even involve surgery.
The animal may be totally asymptomatic for the greatest part of the infection.
The life cycle of the dog heartworm is approximately 6 to 7 months from the first bite of the mosquito to the parasite moving to the heart.
Upon adulthood, the females can measure 30cm in length and the males 23cm.
After 7 months, mating will have occurred and the females will have started producing microfilariae.
The spread of mosquito breeding grounds from strictly warm southern climates has lead to an increase in heartworm proliferation.
Heartworm prevention comes in the shape of a monthly prophylactic, such as Revolution heartworm which uses selamectin - a broad range anti parasite medication.
Revolution pet is popular for its ease of use, its relative inexpensiveness, and its effectiveness.
Milbemycin is the active ingredient in Inteceptor, and ProHeart utilizes moxidectin to kill the parasites.
Heartworm and other parasites can be treated by using a topical application such as Revolution for dogs, which is not only a heartworm control, but also a program of flea control and parasite control.
Heartworm prevention is so easy and effective, there is simply no reason to risk your pet’s health. To get your dog checked out, see your vet.
First, diagnosis is commonly made by a blood test, then medications are given for the cure and prevention of the infection.
The amount of the damage in an infected animal can be revealed by an x-ray.
Heartworm pills or injections are a common route to take in curing an infection, however prevention is always much better than trying to cure heartworms. (This holds true with fleas, ticks, and other health conditions, as well.)
To get the information you need, ask about the canine heartworm at your dog’s next routine check up.
Revolution flea control makes it easy and economical to be health savvy to be proactive as you focus on flea and heartworm prevention together.
