March 19, 2009 by John Sommer · Leave a Comment
We can help but love our pets and they’re quickly becoming part of our lives. We would never want to hurt them but sometimes we’re doing things or not doing things that will actually have a negative effect on their health and physical condition.
The first things is that you need to make sure that you’re pet is given the proper food and other nutritional products that the specific breed might require. Even though we all know how important proper food is to a body (dog, cat, bird or human) we’re often going for quick solutions rather than the right solutions and the effect shows in all the statistics.
When you truly realize the effect that malnutrition can have on your pet (and yourself) you’ll be likely to change habits instantly. And if you find yourself in that situation or if you’re have been giving it some thoughts that your pet might not be fed the right pet food, then luckily there is a perfect solution. And that is to go see your VET and ask her what she recommends.
Proper nutrition will be really expensive in most cases and therefore you’ll find a lot of people that knows what the right thing to do is but that still won’t do it because it’ll cost too much. Time and money are not something that ordinary people have too much of these days.
The results of poor nutrition is agreed upon by almost any expert and professor in the world and that is that you’ll give the pet’s body a lessor chance when trying to fight off viruses and keep illnesses at a distance.
Accidents tends to occur more often to pets will low levels of energy and poor health conditions and in most of these situation it is caused partially by the lack of good food. It is sad as the solution is so obvious.
Getting back on your feed after being in an accident or having been ill will take a lot longer if you haven’t been eating right. This is exactly the same situation our pets face if we’re not providing the proper food for them.
In case you don’t want to or don’t have the financial ability to pay for the highly priced pet food that your pet would need then you might want to thing about signing your pet up for a low cost insurance plan. There are several great ones out there but you must know where to look to find them
The good and bad of a CNA
March 14, 2009 by Eric Gagne · Leave a Comment
There are a variety of reasons to get jobs as Doctors and Nurses for some people each year not only for the satisfaction of helping to cure and save others, but because the salary is pretty nice.
There are however other health care related jobs which do not pay as much as they should. For those who have become a CNA or Nursing Assistant, times can get tough with low pay.
What you might earn will really depend on the location of where you are employed as well as the variety of people that you work with. These two things can lead to a happy or unpleasant experience in the workplace.
Of major concern for many Nursing assistants is that they feel unappreciated for the work they do. Because they do not have the respect of a doctor or nurse yet, they often feel that since a majority of their work is behind the scenes, nobody ever really sees what they do.
After reading the previous, what are your thoughts about your career choice in a medical field?. Is it worth it to become a CNA, and are there any real benefits?
When it comes to the actual earnings of a CNA one might turn the other way because it can seem low. Keep in mind however you will most likely never be out of a job. Nursing assistants are needed all the time. In fact they are in so much demand, that many health facilities will try to lure away other CNA’s with extra benefits or bonuses.
If you make being a certified nursing assistant your career choice, just remember that you are the boss of your own life, and you will need to take control of your work situation while at the same time making sure never to take your frustrations out on any patients.
How to Control Dog Allergies
March 13, 2009 by Victor · Leave a Comment
For many people, the discovery of the fact that they are allergic to dogs comes with their ownership of the first pet dog. The most common advice given by doctors is to give the dog away. Although this is no doubt the most convenient way to solve your allergy problem, it is almost impossible to do for many pet owners, as they would have already fallen in love with the dogs. There are also many people who are persistent in keeping pet dogs despite their allergy.
Fortunately, there are many ways to solve this predicament that does not involve giving your dog away. Here are several tips to help you control if not eliminate your dog allergy problem.
1. Some dogs tend to shed more hairs than others. If you are allergic to dogs, it is best to get a dog breed that does not shed hairs as much. These are known as low dander dogs. Poodles and Terries are some example of such dogs. Even if you own a low dander dog, it is important to wash and brush your dogs fur at least once a week. If this proves to be unbearable, you should get a dog groomer or someone else to do it for you.
2. You should also keep your house clean and vacuum the floor at least once a week to get rid of stray hairs. You should also get specialized air conditioners that filter out allergens for the air current.
3. There are certain food supplements and vitamins that can help reduce and control your allergic reactions to dogs. Consult your doctor or your local pharmacist to find out more about these supplements.
4. Although many of us love to let our pets go on the couch and bed, this is generally not a good idea for those who are allergic to dogs. You should keep your dogs off the couch and your bed at all times to prevent allergens from accumulating on its surfaces
5. If all of these tips dont work, you can take regular allergy shots as your final resort. These shots should keep your allergic reactions under control.
How to detect diabetes symptoms in your pets and care for them
March 12, 2009 by Roy Jones Cynthia Smith, RN · Leave a Comment
Domesticated animals can also develop diabetes. Cats and dogs are regularly diagnosed with The Disease. Frequent vet checks can often check for the disease the symptoms get severe.
This is usually very scary for the owner of the pet, as most humans consider their pets as members of the family. Usually the first question asked of a veterinarian when first hearing that your pet does have diabetes is will you have to put your best friend down? This answer greatly depends on the age and overall health of your pet.
The treatment of the animal depends of the overall health, with age playing a factor in the issue of diabetes.
If a dog or cat is diagnosed with diabetes it can live just as long as a dog or cat without. This takes proper care from both the vet and the owner.
Like previously stated, this takes a lot of commitment and determination on the owners part. They have to constantly watch their pet daily, and make sure they are patient with their pet to make sure they get the proper care that they need.
Most pets require a daily routine of medicines and diet in order to treat the animal’s disease. Commitment from the owner provides the pet with a comfortable life.
Monitoring the animal’s diet will be part of the treatment. The owner will also have to watch for behavioral changes that can also be a symptom of diabetes.
What does it mean for me as an owner when my pet may have diabetes? Don’t worry overly much. Educate yourself to be able to detect the signs and symptoms of the disease. Part of this education should be knowing what to do if something serious happens.
Along with emotional and physical monitoring, the financial aspect is another subject to be discussed with the veterinarian.

When this occurs it is best to give your dogs a good bath using anti-flea shampoos. If the incessant scratching persists after the bath, you should bring your dog to the vet immediately.
Food allergy is another common form of allergy among dogs. Dogs are allergic to a many foods that are normally consumed by humans. For examples, chocolates and grapes are considered to be toxic to dogs. You should always pay attention to the ingredients that are used in making the dog food consumed by your pet. There are some dogs that are allergic to certain type of meat. If your dog is experiencing some allergic reactions, try switching to another type of dog food (one that contains a different type of meat).
There are a host of things that you can do to prevent allergies. For starters, keeping your dog and its environment clean at all times will keep a host of allergens at bay.
